Pure candles towards paraffin candles

The joys of life can often be small and simple, and for me nothing relaxes more than to settle down on a Sunday with the papers and an uplifting scented candle.

Like many of you, I avoid paraffin wax candles in favor of more natural alternatives. Here's why:

Problems with paraffin:

Paraffin wax is a by-product of petroleum and the main ingredient in most candles, from very expensive to affordable.

When burned, paraffin wax releases substances such as toluene and benzene known carcinogens that can accumulate in unventilated areas.

In a study by Dr. Amid Hamidi of South Carolina State University in 2009 said: “The occasional paraffin candle and its emissions are unlikely to affect you. But lighting many paraffin candles for years, or lighting them frequently in a non-ventilated bathroom around a tub, for example, can cause problems. "

If, like me, you prefer to play it safe, there are some beautiful brands of soy or beeswax candles that have a much cleaner and longer burn time than paraffin.

I'm currently going to The Isle of Skye Candle Company candles. Your hand-cast soy wax candles are made in the Scottish highlands and come in a variety of beautiful scents – my favorite is juniper!

The Isle of Skye Candle Company was founded in 2006 by James Robertson – he is really excited about the benefits of natural products and wanted to offer a clean and environmentally friendly alternative to paraffin wax.

The Isle of Skye Candle Company was named "Best New Scottish Company" at the Scottish Variety Awards in 2012. I would say they are a great new British brand to watch!

Are you going to switch to a cleaner candle?
